Thanks, although I'll probably be too scared to try it. My car is not a show car but it looks pretty good. britt

STOP!! If you're doing that on the black car, you're wasting your time. The wheel house is usually what contacts the tire in these cars. Look inside the quarter and you'll see the rounded inner fender. It's much narrower than the wheel opening. When the suspension compresses the tire rides up into the wheel well and rubs the outer portion of the wheel house. The outside bodywork has nothing to do with it. Take the wheel off and use a mid-sized dead blow hammer to massage the wheel house. Don't whack it too hard. If yours has already been modified, I'll sit down and shut up.

Thanks gy3. The springs are moved inboard. In the pic the rear tires are 325-50's on 11 inch rims. When I had them widened I didn't move the wheel center and it left me with alot of backspace (costly mistake). Any way, I was able to use a 1 inch spacer but I don't like using a spacer. They did rub a little on the inside if I went over a bump or railroad tracks. I'm in the process of getting another set widened and was basically trying to get every little bit of room I can. Feets, I know wahat you mean about the wheelhouse I noticed it yesterday when I was measuring stuff. britt

Here is what I do and it works good on nice cars as long as you take your time and dont slip. I take a cutter wheel in my air wizzer and I cut a slot very carefully in the lip as I cut from inside and cut the 1/2" or so to to the fender. I make a cut about every 1 inch. The I take a pair of pliers and grab a 1 inch section at a time and slowly bend it up. Then when it close as you cant get it flush with the pliers on it I take the butt end of a hammer handle and push on it very slowly and it pushes the metal flat against the inner 1/4 fenderwell. I never hit the 1/4 I just push on it to get it all the way flush. I have done this many times and it works good. You just need to take your time and by no means rush it. Ron
