My challenger needs a replacement k member, I have a chance to pick up a 70' B-body K member with a factory skid plate. I know it will bolt in, but I have heard the mounting for the steering box is at a different angle than an E-body. Is this true ? I will be running a 440 at first , then a HEMI later on. THANKS for your help

IIRC the sway bar mounts differently. and a HEMI X member is different too.

I am truckless..

I thought that the 1969 and back had the sway bar mounted up front on the K member and the 1970 & up had the sway bar passing through the front of the k member. I will use the Schumacher coversion mounts when I do the HEMI swap.

I am most concerned with the angle of the steering box mount, IF it is different ?

I found an old post by Dr. Diff, I need to find a E-body or 1971-72 B-body K member due to the steering box angle.

Yeah the angle is different, but I've done the swap years ago with no adverse affect... The coupler is able to flex more than enough to compensate..
And 70 B & E sway bars use the same design mounting...
Hemi engine mounting is different but you can mount to a 440 K member with Schmacher brackets...

There is a 3 degree difference in the angle of the steering box,and that is the only difference. The B-body k frame will tilt the box at more upward angle. The sway bar and mounts are the exact same thing on 70 E and B bodies. If you don't tell anybody, they won't know the difference. If you are worried about the steering coupler, use a Flaming River coupler with a u joint in it.

just between 70/72 B and all E... up to 69 Bs are slightly diff on the sway bar attaching deal... since 73 B is TOTALLY diff

Now,wondering, if we got 3º diff, what about pitman arm ?

I found this pic in another old post. It is a 1970 E-body k member in a 1969 B-body. It looks like a side to side difference too. The steering shaft should be in-line with the steering box.

mmm, dunno... suposelly the front frame is the same between both. In fact the B body was the plattform to build the E body and fit bigger engines on a Pony car category
