I would install the cam @ 103 (102 to 104) and it will be fine which Torque converter. (dodgeboy8)
I would go with a 750 3310 vac sec Holley

back in the early 80s I had a LD340 and the 284/484 purple cam with 3.23s in my 340 demon. It was very lazy on the bottom but then I went to 4.10s and it made the package come together.

I wish that that cam would have been installed at about 104 +/- to work. The ones that I have seen I was not impressed with. Maybe yours will be fine. I love that intake though. Use a drop base intake too.

I've got a 30 over 360 in my 'Cuda with the 284/484 Purple shaft cam, running 2.02 mildly worked heads, a M1 dual plane intake, Hedman headers, a 650 Holley DP, and I have had both 3.55 and 4.10 gears in it (4.10's are in there now). I really like the combination, and yours is very similar except for the gears, intake, and vehicle weight. I could probably get a little more performance with a Holley 750 DP, but it's strictly a street car and the 650 works fine. It worked very well with the 3.55 gears, and then really woke up with the 4.10's, so I agree that you may need more gear, but you might be OK with the lighter car and 3.23's

We put the turbo action tight 10" in our A motor cuda, we like it. Mancini has the best deal on it, as far as i know.

I used to run almost the same setup in a 67 Valiant- std bore 360 with speed pro flat tops, 587 heads 2.02's, 280/.474 cam, RPM manifold w/3310 750cfm holley, 727 w/stock hi stall and RMVB, 3.23 SG.

The biggest problem I had was traction, I had to roll into it and by 20-30 could go WOT with only a little spinning, If I nailed it at 50-60mph and shift to 2nd it would spin a lot too.

I don't know where the the cam was actually installed but it was on the +4 position on the spocket, I was 18 when I put the car together and didn't really care about stuff like that at the time, Good thing is I was putting the motor together at a friends house and his Dad didn't want of us to get embarassed so he usually would set up the cam's, re-curve dist's etc to make sure they run ok.

Good to here Moparjoe I kind of figured this would work good.I am about a mounth away from finding out how she will work,I like the 323 gear only because we do alot of car showes and cruise nights that are sometimes a little far away.

The 280/.474 acts more docile than the 284/.484, it's around 10-12* smaller at .050 than the 284/.484 from what I was told, the 280/.480 crane has similar manners to the 280/.474 if you have problems getting the MP cam.

I used to get 11-12" of vac at idle in gear with that cam where one of my friends was running the 284/484 in a similar 360 and was getting 8-9".

750 carb, definitely play with the accelerator pump shot (bigger shooter, I used #37) and the secondary spring if it's a vacuum secondary (go weaker, I used yellow), 3.91s, 2400 to 2600 stall minimum, install at least two degrees advanced (four deg. advanced also works very well), definitely recurve the distributor for a little more initial timing, 34 to 35 total timing.....and it'll rip.

I put together that exact combo for an acquaintance about 15 years ago for his '69 340 Dart and what a fun little car it was. His eyes were as big as saucers the first time he whacked the throttle.

That's a great cam to use. We've used it for years in many street combos and even went 12.20's with it in a 383 Road Runner.

my setup ( except carb ) is similar

360 STD bore w / KB 107's
stock 1.88 intake heads ( injection ports (1978))
474 mopar cam
904
dynamic 9.5" converter ( BRINGS IT ALL TOGETHER!)
3.23 gears

I do run a MT 24.5" slick when I am at the track - but the dynamic converter really helps

it weighs 3430

The car gets 16 mpg's
1.74 60' times
12.56 - best ET
108 - best MPH

the only difference is the converter ( call dynamic and discuss your application) and the intake - I run a tunnel ram - with a ported sticker intake it ran:
1.86 - 60'
13.20's @ 103

That should work out well for you. That LD340 is tough intake to beat. That is what is on the .030 over 360 in the sig.

Your combo is close to mine, except I have the K.B. Hyper. pistons. The LD 340 intake is a good one. I currently am using the Air Gap. I have nothing but praise for the MP 284 cam. I used it with 3.91 gears and a Holley 750 DP. It really had strong mid range power, and good street manners, with a nice sounding idle.
I got greedy after a couple of seasons, and moved up to the MP 292/508. That was a expensive lesson for me. I wound up having to raise the compression and buying a much looser converter. The car currently has 4.30 gears in it, and gets occasional street use. It usually runs about a 7.60 in the eighth. Good luck with yours.

I ran the .474-280 cam in my girlfriends Dart back in the 80's. It was a 318 Dart that I put a 340 in I rebuilt to stock specs. But I added the .474 cam and headers. I used the LD318 intake since it was a 318 car we just used the 318 intake on the 340 and I bolted a 650 DP on it. It was a 73 Dart Sport and it had an 8-1/4 rear with 4.10's and used the stock 318 auto trans and converter. But that thing would run good. It had great low end as it would smoke the G/60 tires even from a 15-20 mph roll. Took it to the track and ran 13.40's @ 105 on street tires. I felt with slicks it would have ran high 12's as it had no hook at all on street tires. And you have to remember it had a stock 318 converter and the 318 smaller port intake so I felt with a few changes this could have been a solid mid 12 car. I really liked that .474-280 cam in that street car. Ron

My combo below was good for 12.80-12.90 with slicks. It's now just a street car. Very similiar specs to what you guys are talking.
