and I mentioned using Showcars up in Canada for it until my ear started bleeding from a post I had made in the Q&A forum. Now I don't want to order from them...

I need a 69 Charger bolt on hood. I need a 2" cowl induction hood because I am running a 2x4 setup underneath and K&N Route 66 billet air cleaners. I wanted to keep some of the originality of the hood so when I saw the hood below I fell in love with it...but not enough to wait 12 months and it not fitting. So I am poking around and thinking to go with VFN Fiberglass, a stock flat 68-69 hood. Then having it shipped to my body guy in Los Angeles along with a separate scoop and having him mend it in to the existing hood.

Are there other options of companies. I saw Glasstek but didnt like their scoops.

The other option is to send VFN a picture of the hood I originally wanted, and ask them if they could make something similar to it in their workshop. I eventually need to send it to New York to get sent out on a cargo ship bound to Europe....so paying shipping costs back and forth isn't making me feel any better either.

Hood I wanted:

Now the scoop I am looking at:

i would get the hood home first.
cut the hole and make sure it fits properly before doing any more work to it.
then take it to your buddy for finishing.

The thing is....the car lives in Europe....so sending it to NY then Europe to make it fit and back to L.A. only to repeat the shipping process is not an option.

I can paint it...thats no problem....I want the scoop to get mounted on to the hood without cracks or waves. That's all. If it needs a trim on the sides to make it fit in the hinges shouldn't be that big of a deal. I am sure I could work something out.

FYI this is an e-mail I got from another company.

Hi Jeff, We have a flat hood either pin on or bolt on. you would have to get the factory to do a custom job to install a cowl on the flat hood for you. i got a quote for one yesterday for a different car but prices should be in that ball park range.
i am not sure which cowl you want on one?
see this page,
http://www.artfiberglass.com/auto/cowlscoops.html
you would have to buy both a hood and cowl then they charge $250.00 labor and materials to install it.
the cowl runs from $110 to $180.
hoods are
'70 Stock Flat Pin On Hood. Price= $299.00 + S/H.
'70 Stock flat Bolt On Hood. Price= $399.00 + S/H.
see this page for the Charger hood, http://www.artfiberglass.com/auto/6874charger.html.
then they have a $20.00 crate fee. and the handling fee and shipping to the total.
so if you want a bolt on hood with the lowest price scoop $110..
$399.00
$250.00
$110.00
crate fee = $20.00
subtotal = $779.00
handling fee = $22.90
Total = $801.90 plus shipping via truck freight.
They will not be doing any custom orders however until end of April possibly longer as they are already booked 6 weeks out.
i can get an estimate on shipping if i know your address.
shipping is paid when it is completed. they can also ship freight collect most cases.
they dont know where shipping prices will go in 2 months.

Thank You, Kind Regards, Larry

Swingin....

Here is the weird part....ArtFiberglass seems to have EXACTLY the same website and parts list / pictures as VFN Fiberglass....Except one is in Oregon and the other is in Illinois..Same exact prices too...Something seems fishy there...

I bought my hood from VFN and they told me they would put whatever scoop I wanted on it for an extra charge. They did everything they promised and delivered on time.

I was happy with the whole process and the hood.
