that's true. although many a car is being street driven with bronze bushings with no appreciable wear after many years.

Ampco 18 aluminum bronze would be a good choice if you're going to make it yourself , it's very slick material.We use it all the time on plastic injection molds for bushings and wearplates. http://www.ampcometal.com/en/index.php?page=a18extThis may be the same material the use to make the distributor gear drives for roller cams.??
