i have a 1970 duster and im lookin to update my rear. the car will be goin in the low ten second region but will also have nitrous on it to play with on test and tunes. i have an opportunity to buy a truck dana 60. my question is are these rears strong enough for my application or should i go through strange or someone?

it's not going to be a bolt in if thats what you are thinking so once you buy a new set of race axles , possibly a spool and a gear set for what you need you should be good to go .

the housing itself is plenty strong

Truck dana 60s use floating axles. You are better off buy a strange because everything needs to be changed.

once its changed over from a truck axle to a car, its the same as a strange axle strength wise.

Dr. Diff priced the changeover components for a B body for me not too long ago for around $500, flanges, bearings and axles. Get the brakes off an 8.75 I believe.

If you are thrifty, you can build a spooled dana out of a truck case for under or right at $1000.

Absolutely.

As said, if you are thrifty, you can build your own cheaply

$803 in mine. Housing, gears, spool, bearings seals shims,and Moser axles. Dave
