Using gaskets with the motor plate will eventually work loose and cause a water leak. I have great success with just RTV. I am using studs, and that holds up the engine even if I have to take off the water pump or timing cover.

I have tried both ways , just gaskets or just RTV, and had leaks.Started using fel-pro gaskets with a lite coat of rtv on both sides of gaskets and no leaks, been doing this for about 5 years.

same here
studs are a must IMO.
make sure all surfaces are clean and flat {180 wet dry on a piece of glass to level surfaces} before assembly.

I hope you have a 1 piece motor plate
Nothing wrong with either set up but most gaskets don't stand up well to torsional stress.

Best of luck!

For those of you looking for the Superperformance gaskets, I stock them here. I have PM'd a few of you.

I even stock the ever popular Twin Turbo Yugo Defibulator gaskets in the MP-15. You oughta see them.

Let me know if I can help, either PM or compwedgeracing@aol.com.

Thanks

Todd

Well, I used SILICONE ( red high temp rtv) between the motor plate and block and I used Gaskets with the same silicone between the plate and the block!!! I tightened the SNOTS out of the 6 socket head cap screws (csr electric pump) and HOPEFULLY she doesnt leak!!! A little combination of both ideas!!! Thanks for the ideas and info... Gary Oles nosboy
