I saw a restored 68 and it had the number 16 hand written in marker on the drivers valve cover on front of cover behind power steering pump. Not to be confused with the engine code as seen on the fender tag. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct if necessary. I can't afford this. mark

I've seen unrestored 69's with the 3 digit number on the top of valve cover passenger's side. I beleive on 69 it was the 3 digit engine code found at top left of fender tag. But 68's don't have that code on the tag.
