Anyone got pix??

I'm looking at mating a 471 to my 291 Desoto, and I'm really diggin' the looks of the early v-belt blower drives. Of course, I would love to see some pix of 471s mounted on Desotos, but any vintage blower setups would be cool to see.

Just a couple blown Desotos to whet your appetite.

What manifold are you using for your Desoto blower setup?

I'm going to make my own. either log style, or I will mill the stock manifold, and see what I come up with.

The blower set up I showed in my post was from a website where a guy was looking to recast blower manifolds for Desotos, but he didn't list what engine or what blower. I'm thinking that lung looks a little bigger than my little 471, though.

It does look pretty good sized, it is definately bigger than a couple of 2-53s I have on John Deere crawlers.

I think it was for a 6-71.He was going to cast them for the low deck Desoto motors 276 /291cid.There was interest, but not enough to offset the costs to produce it.I was hoping to get one for my 291.

A 6-71 blower for an engine displacement of that size is a waste unless you were to under-drive it and then you're defeating the purpose of the larger blower. That is likely the main reason why there was no interest. A 3-71 or more common 4-71 is more than enough for those engines.

Plus it just looks too big. If I was looking for performance, I wouldn't start with a 291 Desoto to begin with. My 4-71 will likely be under driven, and v-belt driven, to boot. Trying to find some pix of old v-belt setups. My old man raced with a chain driven one back in the late 50's, but I really don't have spheres that hard.

I just bought a old 6v71 blower setup for a 440 project Charger. It was rebuilt then never run. After talking to Bill at Dyers, this is not near big enough for my application. He said it was designed for small block applications and output is very close to a 4-71. He said they made intakes for it but that was all 25 years or more ago. If you are interested, let me know. I am new here also.
