I am interested in building a Big Block Volare/Aspen with a 727. Does anyone have any specs on the engine mounts, headers and rearend that you have used?

I've never done it personally, but I know guys have used 66-70 B-body axles in F-bodies. I think the Schumacher BB spool type conversion mounts will work. And the TTI under chassis headers should work.

As mentioned the 8 3/4 from a 66 B-body works great as that's what i have in mine.I run a sb stroker though so no help on the mounts for you.There are a few on here with big blocks in F-bodies.Just remember that front end is already heavy before you add weight to it.
What is your plan with the car,street/strip?

I had one as a 440/727 for nearly 25 years. I just recently sold it.

It can be done, and can be fun; but with all the stroker small block possibilities available today, why would you?

The extra expense to put a BB in, can be applied to a lighter SB combination.

This used to be a very popular swap and I seem to recall a kit being available.
I built a 440 for a guy who was doing the same deal back in 1981 ish .........if there was a store bought kit available , I'd bet green dollars that there is one sitting on a shelf somewhere looking for you.
I seem to recall it being a very easy 10.80 deal , but he sold the car shortly after finishing it.
Actually , someone just had to have it would be closer to the truth.
But it was a pretty easy swap , with a minimum of cussing and only one ding required on a header tube.

You should be able to use the stock K member and then the Schumacher motor mounts to install it
in a Volare/Aspen.

I know the K-member/torsion bars are different
from the 67-76 A-body.

My 74 Duster has a old MP K-member with spool
mounts for my 383/727 combo.

Or you can go to BBD.com and RMS motorsports
has a front end kit for this if I'm not mistaken.

Here is what we did in my dad's Volare. Just made a plate. Headers are 1 3/4 B body headers. we had to alter the tube on # 7 cyl.


Here it is in the car.

A 66-70 B-Body housing is 3/4" wider overall than the stock axle. Cut the perches off and move them (you should do this any way to get the pinion angle correct).While you're at it it's easy to move the springs in(search my old posts for pics). Duster or Demon drive shaft from a 727 equipped car fits,as does the 727 itself.B-body headers usually fit with some issues at the steering coupler which can be trimmed. A last note. I haven't done it myself but a friend claims if you swap the stock 318 motor mount brackets right to left the R/B engine will come very close to bolting in.

I have done this twice and I used the stock 400 spool type mounts to perch my 452 low deck stroker into place with zero and I mean zero mods. I used 1 3/4 headers for B/E/C/ body (all of em) ZERO issues. In fact it was so easy and such a nice sleeper I would like to do it again and run in the 9's with the engine I have now--700+hp 470 low deck. J.Rob
