use a petronix ignitor II and the flame thrower coil.
Not an option at this time ... Owner wants a Mopar performance unit so it Ma Mopar only. Thanks though.

If you call M+H they can build a harness with the electronic ignition upgrade built right in and still retain a factory look,
I just called them asking about Year One wiring harness HU10AEM "1970 340/6 with electronic ignition upgrade" and they advised that harness is set up to have the ECU mounted on the passenger side firewall, just like the later factory electronic ignition. They WOULD NOT make a custom harness to mount the ECU elsewhere out of sight.

Contacted M&H they said that Year One would have to grant permission for them to make any Mopar harness because Year One owns all of the tooling. Even if it was a custom unit that uses Mopar specific connections, Year One would have to O.K. it.
The Tech article is just what I need and I'll go from there.
Thanks,

Where are you puting the "box". Where is the best place to put it? I'm working on an AAR and thought of attaching it to the firewall inside the car. What's the best way to hide the wiring to make it look stock? I don't think you can use the Pertronix unit on a dual point distributor such as the T/A and AAR.
I find it asinine that so many people build 100 point OEM show cars, only to stick the orange control box on the firewall.
Uggghh...
Don't see what's so bad about using Pertronix unit. Hidden and it looks stock.
If you have to use the Mopar unit, then just get a whole new harness w/the built-in wiring for the control box.
Problem is that it utilizes the four-prong ballast resistor which doesn't look stock either!
As far as mounting...don't know about small blocks, but for big blocks, you can mount the the box on a the rear intake rail.

The biggest reason that M&H won't make a custom length harness is that the ECU was designed for a specific length of harness, Anything over that length can cause really wierd problems.
I agree , especially over time. The ECU was designed to work with a predetermined amount of resistance, changing this resistance will cause issues over time

OK, so If I get the 1970 harness that's made for the "upgrade" to electronic ignition, where will that allow me to hide the ECU? I don't have a harness now to figure this out. I bought the car torn down and I'm in the process of restoration. My understanding is the Pertronix unit cannot be used in dual point distributors (this is on an AAR), so I purchased a Mopar Performance set up. What have all of you done that have changed to the MP distributor and put the box out of sight?

In the same place as mother mopar designed it to be mounted, just off center towards the pass side of the firewall
