Looking for a donor motor for my 69 Coronet. I found a 78 Dodge truck with a strong 440/727 and Dana 60 rear with 3:55 gears. I know the motor will drop in, but what about the trans and rearend? Probably a dumb question..but one I don't know the answer too... Dave
If the truck is in great condition you may want to think twice about parting it out. YOu may make enough money on reselling it to go towards even more cool stuff.

What ton is the truck?
If it's a half ton, then the trans will work, but the "dana" will be a 9.25 mopar not a dana 60
If it's a 3/4 ton the 727 will likely be a short shaft version, and the d 60 will need to have flange ends welded on, axles etc..
If it's a dually, the 727 is as above. The dana will probably be a d70, not a d 60, and not worth narrowing.
