Looking for a donor motor for my 69 Coronet. I found a 78 Dodge truck with a strong 440/727 and Dana 60 rear with 3:55 gears. I know the motor will drop in, but what about the trans and rearend? Probably a dumb question..but one I don't know the answer too...

Trans should as long as it's not a short tail or 4x4. The rear would probably need narowed.

Narrow the rear and make it 5 lug of course, and don't forget you'll need a car oil pan for the engine too.

If the truck is in great condition you may want to think twice about parting it out. YOu may make enough money on reselling it to go towards even more cool stuff.

What ton is the truck?

If it's a half ton, then the trans will work, but the "dana" will be a 9.25 mopar not a dana 60

If it's a 3/4 ton the 727 will likely be a short shaft version, and the d 60 will need to have flange ends welded on, axles etc..

If it's a dually, the 727 is as above. The dana will probably be a d70, not a d 60, and not worth narrowing.

Truck is a 3/4 ton. Claims to be rust free and in great shape, but I don't need a truck, just a motor to put the Coronet back in action. Not sure there is much of a market for 3/4 ton truck parts around here.

Nice boxes are usually easy to sell.

Guys who restore LRTs seem to appreciate mint '78 grilles/radiator supports/front clips. Every time I take that stuff to the Mopar Nationals, it sells quickly.
