The actual blue color came later with the low-compression "smog" motors.
My friends early build 70 Charger 500 383-2 bbl, auto w/A.C. this is an untouched original car,has a blue painted engine. John.
Are 70 Charger's a whole different ballgame?
What they are talking about here applies to Satelites/Belvederes only? Maybe Coronets too?

I disagree; check out Dan's BS shown above your post. I think 383 4bbl non-A/C, 4 spd cars got the 335hp (E87) motor despite Chrysler advertising to the contrary.
agreed! like I mentioned, my RP23N0E had never been disassembled and is a 383HP stamped non-A/C 4 speed and was orange when I bought it in 82. when I opened it up it had a windage tray. Wouldn't that indicate 335 horse?

My original/untouched '70 Satellite 383 4-bbl A/T car had a turquoise motor & AVS carb. The orange vs. turquoise '70 383 4-bbl deal has been debated here before, and IIRC the orange ones are an anomaly. As previously stated, orange 383s & 440s would signal RR/GTX. '69 RR 383s with A/C were turquoise 330-horse motors, not the 335, had one. Possibly this changed for '70, but not on mine. All the cars I'm referring to were St.Louis built.
Each year of the 330/335 horse engine (68-70) is different and the applications (Automatic, manual, A/C and Non-A/C) and model can vary by year. What applied one year may not have applied the next.
Seeking:
1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs. Over 2,000 thanks to you!

ALL 70 B bodies.
There's another thread documenting engines in '70 Chargers somewhere.
I know someone with a 70 Charger 500, A/C automatic. 2nd owner 70K original miles. Number matching buildsheet. I sure thought he had a orange HP motor.
Should that be a blue/turquiose motor?

Dan is rarely inaccurate and documents his posts very well.
Further proof 70 Belvedere 4 speeds recieved the 087 engine assembly. Here are tags from Lynch Road buit cars. Notice the RR and the Belvedere have the same engine.
So it's a B5 Blue Belvedere with a 383 4 speed? Does this car still exist? Would love pics!
