Is there a secret trick, or special tool to remove the parking brake cable from the brake backing plate? It's a 8 3/4" rear. I was successful with one of the cables by using a hose clamp to squeeze the "barbs" enough to allow it to pass thru the mounting hole, but the remaining one is giving me fits. I don't want to damage the cable, but I'm quickly losing my patience. Can anyone offer a suggestion? Thanks.

I usually slip a box end wrench over, and twist it around. Can't remember is it's 1/2" or 9/16"

take your time & have the clamp a hair from the end of the tines so when they're compressed enough they can start thru as you keep pressure on the cable pushing it as you unscrew the clamp.

slip it over, rotate wrench and tug the cable out.

Some of the most creative swearing I've ever done came out the first time I battled that.

I compress the tangs with a 9/16" boxed end wrench and yank the cable out.

Finally got it using the hose clamp. Tried the box wrench method, but I couldn't get it with that. I hope I won't have to do that again.
