Go by what the tire recommends not the door. Somebody may have put a ten ply tire on that requires 60+ psi tire pressure. I run 65# in my load range E cooper discoverer tires. The door sticker says only 50# I believe.

The rating on the side wall of the tire is for max load.

Use the rating on the door sticker.

I have been in the tire business for 15 years.
Go by what the sticker says.
I always go by the vehicle manufacturer specifications

Can't go wrong with manufacturer specs.. Every vehicle has that sticker in the door.

wouldn't it be better to go by what it says on the TIRE?? the sticker was for the factory installed tires...who can say what's on it now.

What's on the tire is the maximum safe pressure not the recommended pressure. That is not what to use but what not to go over.

Be careful, if the sticker calls for high pressures for load range E tires and someone put on load range D or LT tires that have a max pressure of 35 or 44, and you inflate to door sticker specs (60 to 80) you will be creating an unsafe condition.

I just had this discussion with a tire dealer when I put new tires on my pick up. Max pressure is around 80#. I run the tires at 65#. The door sticker says to run 55# front and 80 rear. When the previous owner did this he put new tires on at 20K miles. Why would you want less pressure on the tires that have the weight of a diesel engine on them and max pressure on the rear tires with no load on them. I put 35K on my tires keeping them rotated and equal pressure. They are still in great shape. Not trying to argue but it goes against what I was taught in school and the tire dealer agrees with me. The only reason I put new tires on is because I bought new rims for the vehicle. BTW after fighting GM on tire wear issues on our 07 Impala, the service department and alignment shop both advise against the recommended 32# on the door. They both said to inflate to max pressure since the rear has the highway patrol car suspension package now. It has not affected the TPMS yet. Again I am not trying to start an argument.

He has the right tires LT not P-metric. Check the door placard to see if you have the recommended tire then inflate to the recommended psi.

You would already have an unsafe condition if your using tires that don't meet the load range for the vehicle.

Eighty in back will make you need a kidney belt run 65-70 rear 50-55 frt on load range E tire. On full load 80 is acceptable. The door usually staes the recommended tire pressure I take that and add 3-4 in the winter to allow for loss of inflation due to temp loss
