I'm working on my 68 Coronet console, I've owned a few of these through the years the only one that used this bracket

was a fiberglass one from a 67 Satelitte... BEA has it listed as correct for 66-70.. Have all of my consoles been missing this or is the application data wrong on BEA's website??? Thanks!!!

I've seen it on all of the 66-70 consoles I've taken apart, except 66 Chargers.

All 68-70 B body consoles had that bracket. That's what the rear plate screws into .

The console I have at the shop is a plastic body not fiberglass & it had two metal spring clips holding one edge of the rear trim & the other side had two screws that pass through the plastic.. I guess I'll order one but it really kinda sux cause I had one & gave it to a buddy cause I didn't think I needed it... How about the Plastic vs Fiberglass? My car had a plastic console in it & I was thinking 67 was the change over.... I sold a fiberglass one pretty cheap, again cause I thought it was wrong for my application....

Yes, the "console carpet kits" you commonly see for sale have 3 pieces--one for each side and a 3rd piece for the metal part you show.

I believe these are commonly missing because the plastic tabs these screw to are weak and often break off. Also, the part is easy to be kicked and broken by 35 years of back seat passengers.

FYI, One thing that is kind of cool, is if you can find one of the rear plates that have a lighter socket built into it, and open spaces between the grooves that houses an interior light to help light up the rear footwell area. They look identical to the original "plain" back plate, but give you a classier upgrade. If nothing else, the lighter socket can be used for a 12 volt power supply. I don't know the specific application they came on, but I'm guessing the high end New Yorkers or other luxury cars. I got a very nice one pretty cheap off Ebay.

C bodie consoles "usually" have the 2 seatbelt recievers located together on top at the rear, just after the console door for the front belts to attach to

I haven't seen enough of them to know what you are talking about I guess. The piece I was talking about is the very rear end cap. I had to wait until I got home, and unbox it from storage to look at the one(s) (I have 2 of them) that I have and they are identical to the plain-jane b-body caps. I bought a high dollar fiberglass mint original console with all the pieces, then saw a couple of the caps on ebay, and bought them. Side by side they look dimensionally identical to the b-body ones, a direct bolt in replacement. I have since decided that I'm going to build a custom aluminum console incorporating some of the factory pieces, but with a more modern upgraded flair. I'm "lightly" customizing my interior to get the look I want, yet retain a factory style vibe to it. I bought the fiberglass console because they are much heavier duty, and not prone to cracking like the plastic ones. You would certianly know more about anything Mopar than me, though! Your work is phenomenal, and I always wonder how in the world you can get such a period correct looking part on your cars, when nothing was ever even remotely offered like that from the factory! You and your crew are all true artists. On top of just doing this for kicks, as I've read you all have full time jobs.

I have two '67 GTX's and both have the full length plastic consoles in them. The '66 fiberglass consoles I've had are not full length and have the detachable end cap on them.

I'm just curious how long the ones you have are that are "full length". Mine is 46" from the very front to the very back.

I don't mean to confuse the issue. I may have been clearer by using the terms 'one piece' and 'two piece'. IIRC, the only reason for the 'two piece' version in '66 was to support both the longer console arrangement in the '66 Charger and the shorter version in the other 'B' bodies. But I can't swear to that.

FWIW The two piece consoles are fiberglass, the one piece units are plastic... I'm pretty much convinced the two piece was 66 & maybe some 67's.. Did the 67 Charger have the full length console too or was that 66 only? And I guess I shouldn't have parted with the bracket pictured above as all the consoles apparently should have it... I ordered one from Mike.. Now I need to decide if I'm gonna use my perfect plastic console body that has the two seat belt clips which Dayclona mentioned as belonging on C bodies... I suspect he's correct but still it's a perfect console & I think I'm gonna use it rather than buy a repo...

Yes Dayclona is correct on it being a C body with the clip. 67 Chrger didn't have the full length console, that was 66 only.
