After much bitching at the bodyshop since they got the car in September, they finally started on it last week. I knew it had some putty and damage, but never realized how much putty until we started stripping it. EVERY panel was caked with the stuff to smooth out all of the factory lines. Here are some pics.

The quarters are so bad we won't even bother stripping them. We'll just cut them off and replace them.

Why is it that it seems you have to constantly "NAG" body shops to get anything done ............ I guess that's why my '71 Challenger continues to sit

Because you are using the wrong shop.

We agree upon a schedule with the customer up front. As long as the payments match the work completed and we're not waiting on parts, we get things done on time.

That's why we're REVOLUTIONARY!

Thanks. I never realized how expensive this A-body stuff is. Not to mention how hard it is to get some parts. In the end, it will be a nice ride!

I did agree on a time schedule with the shop, and that is why I griped so much since the original agreement was I would have it back by the end of the year. Not gonna happen since they took 3 months to get started. They also know now that I won't give them another dime until it is done as I gave them 1/2 the $$ up front.

You just answered your own question as to why it sat. You paid them so much. Next time find someone that will take a small advance and get paid for work done.... I probably made about 10 separate payments of $1500, and he made sure I either came and looked at the car or had a discussion as to what has been done....
