Depending on how good the heads are, you'll get close. Might need a roller cam and some more gear though...

I ran these heads on a 408 a few years back and it ran 10.90's at 124mph so I think they flow enough to get the job done.

One of my friends had a very light [ just under 3000 lbs with a 200 lb driver ]'68 Dart. He ran 10:50s and 60s at 124 mph.with a budget built 365 motor and 4:88 gears. The motor used KB 13:1 pistons, Eagle SIR rods, stock cast crank with internal balance, MP .590 cam, Crane rockers and my old well used Stage I street heads from Hughes. He ran the car on alky. I don't remember what the stall was in the converter. He shifted at 6600 as best I can remember and was pulling 7200 in the lights. This was at Gateway.

Light weight rotating assembly and internal balance definitely help. I prepped the oil passages in the block using the information in Herb McCandless's "Little Purple Book". The 7200rpm [ occasionally 7300 ] was only for a very short time when crossing the stripe. The pan was a low profile Milodon with a high volume oil pump. The lube system was identical to what I use on my Cuda except he needed a 90* filter adapter to clear his headers.

360 magnum block, cast crank, manley rods, dish pistons, ported Magnum R/T heads, Magnum single plane intake, 360 thermoquad carb...(less than .600" valve lift, crosses @ 7600rpm)

10.38 @ 126+ @ 3185 lbs. & 10.70 @ 122 @ 3455 lbs.

This is a NHRA legal SS 360. It won't set the world on fire but it's OK for what it is...

A bracket 360 should easily be able to run 10's.

I am curious as to how mine is going to run. .040 360 with KB107s, zero deck, .039 quench. Out of the box eddies with a good valve job and K-motion K800(IIRC) springs. Off the top of my head the Cam is solid roller 272@.050 and 680ish lift my laptop is down and the specs are on it. Edelbrock victor, 750 Holley, TA4500 8" 3.91 gears. I think the TTI headers and full exhaust won't do it any favors but I like the tailpipes.

Hard to predict without more info but if you are running a 680 lift roller with that combo you are way over cammed.

What is your goal for this car/engine?

272º @ .050" cam has no business in a street bound 360.
OOTB heads will need more than a valve job for any serious
perfomance expectations.

This is a street car but not a cruiser at all. It will get driven to work on occasion and to the track. Manners aren't a real concern.

This cam worked excellent for my dad in a stock port X head 340 combo. I was originally going to build a high compresion 340. I got this 360 shortblock for a deal and am using it to get back on the road so I can start on a stroked 340.

What would be a better choice? Looking to run as fast as possible not concerned about street manners. I am not dead set on this cam but I will try it out since I already have it.

How did that 340 run with that cam?

I think you're at least 20º too big. I figure, with the deck, head
and piston you mentioned, you're about 10.38:1

4500 converter and 3.91 gears and exhaust with that cam won't
be concerned about street manners either.

You asked for input and I was just giving you mine.

I did ask for opinions. Not real surprised at the answers either. If its a turd I will know why but at least I won't have to push it anymore

That 340 my dad had with this cam ran 10.80s in a 3200lb car.
