I have also used WD-40 on my bumpers with no problems.

I love S100 Corrosion Protectant http://www.s100.com/s100_cp.htmI used to work at a Harley dealer and found this stuff there. I use it on everything I own that gets put away and risks corrosion, rust or any environmental effects. Works awesome on paint, bare metals and particularly chrome. Great stuff for aluminum intakes! Spray it on and forget about it for the winter. I just rinse it off with a degreaser and water in the spring but you dont need to.

I believe Naval Jelly is basically jelled acid (phosphoric?)? May not be the best for storage...

Isn't never dull a fine abrasive compound in a felt type pad? I wouldn't use it on new rims unless there to shiny.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

This is a good point. My rims are brand new and all my bumpers are rechromed. I dont want to hurt any of this stuff.
