For normal street builds or mild street/strip setups, I just use a Melling HV oil pump. CHIP

I use a std. volume pump on my 440. You will find that most racers use the stock pump. The reason is the HV pumps more oil than the motor needs. HV pumps = HP loss, worn timing chains and oil blowing past the seals. I do port out and remove the as cast finish and radius the sharp turns on the internal passages on the stock pump to make it more efficent.
The stock 383HP, 440HP and 426 Street Hemi all came with the same sized standard-volume oil pump rotors and all those engines were ran hard back in the day. As stated, the standard oil system is beefy enough for most applications.

A std vol pump. There have been a few reported failures of Melling HV pumps. Melling and Milodon are both good brands. What brand are the blueprinted ones on eGay? whichever one you go with clean it/check the 3 or 4 clearances that there is a spec for & ESPECIALLY make sure it turns freely & no binding & I would port it to up the flow & reduce the stress on the shaft/gears.
