On my 73 Cuda the upper hinge has square holes and what looks like plastic bushings? Anyone know where you can get the bushings? The hole is so big that I would think you would have to have them or the door would sag.

The hinges were sealed with seam sealer. It "squished" into the square holes. You are not the first one to assume it was a bushing or plug.

Really? It sure looks like a bushing. I am having an issue getting the gap established in the door so I removed it to see what was going on and found this material.

I just had to take a set of F body hinges that were wore slap out and weld up the holes and redrill them. They work like new now. I couldnt find a repair kit for them. I found everything else but no F body. My passenger door, You had to pick it up to shut it before.

that sucks.. My problem is that the door doesnt seem to want to move far enough forward to provide the right gap at the rear. Part of it might be the seam sealer/bushing.. I stripped out the top bolt going into the A piller so now I either have to try and put a heli coil in there or weld it up, redrill it and tap it. I have access so it is possible. The hole that stripped out in a peice of 1/4 steel which seems to be spot welded but it is solid and I am not sure how much I want to beat on it to get it out.

Can ya tap it out and put a little bigger bolt? You can drill it out and put a threaded insert in it. I never have liked helicoils. Havent ever had alot of luck with wire wound up, but, one bolt doesnt have tons of pressure on it. The other two will take the load.

Not much room for a larger bolt. I have used a lot f heli coils and if they are put in right they seem to work although they work better if they are in something deep. I will have to look at it. I could weld a nut on the back side as well.
