Ya gotta love spare parts sitting around!

I have two short blocks assembled:
A 383, 12.5:1
A 440, 10.5:1
I have two Crower roller cams:
.550 lift
.650 lift

I want to get my Road Runner back on the road with one of these engines.

4-speed car, 4.89 gears, 29.5 inch M/T Sportsmans.
Commute is 25 mile to work - 17 of that is posted 65mph and the rest is redlights... ( )
MPG is not a factor.
FUN is a factor.

Which CU/Compression block with which cam would work best for this scenario "fun-driving" would you all put together!??

12.5:1 sounds a like race gas territory to me.

I'd put the smaller cam in the 440.

...hmm
...put all the "big guns" (compression/cam) in one application for racing and combine the smaller stuff for the street...

On the street, I will have more focus on the lower rpm range vs at the strip where I'll need some top end power for getting to the end of the track.

With the new tilt front end - swapping out the street engine for the strip engine shouldn't be a huge process...

I'm liking the idea

Other comments?

The 550 roller in the 440 would be the better choice. You didnt mention head options. But the 440 will live a lot longer do to obvious components.

Heads will be 452's with port work. I have too many cars to afford aluminum heads!
