Aurora, Oh.
On the wife's 01 Cruiser she is starting to have issues getting the headlights to come on. I'm guessing it's in the switch on the column. All other lights work and if I play with it enough I can sometimes get the reg headlights on. The brights and the fog lights work all the time Has anyone relaced this switch and how hard of a job is it or do I take it to the dealer and get ripped

Thanks --------
Russ

I replaced the multifunction switch on my 04 when I upgraded to foglights.
It's not bad at all, remove the column covers, disconnect the wiring connectors and a couple screws IIRC.
You can try removing it and spraying the thing down with contact cleaner (Radio Shack).

Price out the switch and the fog light kit. The kit wasn't too bad, and they may be higher on just the switch. That way, you have spare lights.

Not to hijack the thread, but...
The fog lights on my wife's '03 will not shut off. The dealer said it was a short in the multifunction switch, but the switch is on back order and may not be available for some time. And then I was charged $47 to be told they can't fix my car
Anyway, does anyone have a source for these switches?
Thanks

One last question - do you have to remove the air bag to get to the multifunction switch? I really don't want to mess with something like that if I don't have to. Thanks.

No. the steering wheel and the air bag are not disturbed.
Where did you get the switch?

Finally got to this lil project and took the multifunction switch off the column. I cleaned off the electrical connections on the plug and put it back together and the lights started working. Put it all together and they were ok for a few times and stopped again. Then I just wiggled the wires where the plug is on the back and they started working again. The switch itself is not bad but the electrical connection is not consistant so I'll see what I can do with that.
