Well maybe Bad planning...

Blew up my old motor in July, and decided to buy a new 540 Indy Aluminum shortblock to speed up getting back to the track. I had dreams of racing again in September

Well the new motor was supposed to take 3 1/2 weeks, but did not ship for over 7 weeks.

Then the transport company left it in transit over the weekend because they did not have enough trucks so it only made it halfway the week it was shipped.

It got here this monday and i worked every night to finish assemble. Way too many little things sucked up the time, but it was ready today Saturday to put back in the car!

Unfortunately when i went to bolt on the flexplate, i realized that the new 4.25" stroker crank is an 8 bolt and my B&M flexplate is only 6 bolt

Summit has stock but it won't ship until Monday now, and by the time it clears customs to get here to Canada, I will not have enough time to get the car ready for the last race of the year next weekend.

Sorry for the rant, but it is killing me to have missed the season and now i have to wait for June, 2010

There's got to be a Moparts member somewhere near you with a flexplate laying around to borrow or buy.

I don't have a flexplate, but anytime you need something in a hurry, just have it sent to Noonan, ND, and I can "slip" accross the border to pick it up for you, and send it your way on bus or soemthing.

I am in Regina Sask Canada if someone local has an 8 bolt plate I would be thrilled!

I am still going to order 2 day air and hope customes clearance works for once, but once I lose tommorow Sunday to get in the car, i will be hard pressed to have it in the trailer for Thursday night...

I wonder how far South i would have to go to race on Thanksgiving weekend...

I will order the plate , then watch the weather and maybe take a day off work on Thursday as I don't have any help putting it together so it takes longer.

Well the flexplate is on the way, but i have decided my window of opportunity is closed for this weekend...

I don't want to rush this and risk the new motor.

This is my first real race motor, so i have booked it onto the dyno for break in and tuning with the Terminator on Alcohol.

Yeah the forecast for Calgary for the weekendis ugly for sure. The good news is that the lease has been extended 5 years on the track so the track will not be getting dozed under as originally planned. Good luck with you dyno session. I am curious to hear how the -1"s will work on the 540.

Arnie- Abe @ Queen City Performance will have next day access to your flex plate, most of all of his suppliers have this on stock!!Also with him being in Regina also means less headaches and it adds to our "stimulis" economy Good luck!

Hey Edge, i will post the results in a couple weeks once we get it on the Dyno.

Mike, I never thought of Abe as he does not stock a lot of Mopar stuff, but ended up ordering through Bruce at ABS to keep it local... Bruce can fit it onto the dyno in 2 weeks, so I have something to look forward to. I would rather play it safe in setting up the injection system and once we find the sweet spot on timing, and the pill, it should be less time playing around at time trials!

To bad you won't get to race it this year. would have been interesting to see what numbers you'd run with the new short block.....

I know how you feel i thrashed all summer to get mine back together to find the trans is toast.

Oh well next season is only 8 short months away.
