Guys, I am finally getting my car restored and it will soon be time to pick out the rims/tires to go on my Charger. I DO NOT want to use the stock spoke hubcaps! It is a 1973 Charger with an 8 3/4" rear. Can you recommend a good rim size with wider-than-stock tires but no scrub? Im thinking 15" or 16" max as far a diameter. Also I am not very knowledgeable about this but does anyone know what backspacing, offset, etc I will need? The car/axel is stock except for a SSBC disk conversion which fits fine under the stock rims... Any thought's on which specific rim you guys like? Any input is appreciated!

The standard "enhanced stock" mopar muscle car look with the 15" magnums is front 15"x7", with 4.25" backspacing 235 60 15 tires
rear 15"x8", with 4.5" backspacing, 275 60 15 tires. this gives you a 2" taller than stock tire in the rear, but a "beefy" looking tire.

If you're truely going to "Restore" your Charger (you did say Restore, right?) I would consider 15x7 Rallyes with maybe a 245/60/15 on all four corners.
I think the Firestone "Indy" series tires in 245/60/15 look very close to the G60 Belted tires of the day.
That's the biggest wheel combo I can think might have come on your '73 from the factory.
Now if you're intention is to "Restiy" or perform a "Restification" on your car, that's a whole different story, and perhaps even a better description of your true intentions as you mentioned the possibility of entertaining a 16" wheel on your charger.
Have you considered aftermarket 15" or even 16" chromed rallyes or magnum 500's?
4.5" back spacing is the way to go.
Good luck and please post some pics of your car once the Restoration is completed.

Oh, it's gonna be a Resto-Mod.
Now I understand your question.
The word "Restore" really confused me almost as much as the words "frame off" and "Mopar, Dodge or Plymouth" do when used in the same sentence.
My bad. Peace out. (some more words used improperly)

Ok guys, I appreciate your input so far. Here is what I have decided to get for the Charger: Rear: Wheel Vintiques 54 series Magnum 500 15x8" rim size with a 4.5" backspacing, no offset Cooper Cobra GT, P275/60R15 Front: Wheel Vintiques 54 series Magnum 500 15x7" rim size with a 4.25" backspace, +6mm offset Cooper Cobra GT, P235/60R15 These all have a 5x4.5" bolt circle which I believe is correct for the 8 3/4" axle. Can you guys check this over and make sure this looks right? I would measure some of these things myself but I don't have easy access to the car right at the moment. Once I get the warm and fuzzy from some people here that are more knowledgeable, I might go ahead and order these babies! Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what size the threads are on the wheel studs? I seem to remember 7/16x20...but I want to be sure.
Thanks!
