I have the milodon pan with the static remote pickup and the Muscle Motors pump cover. This car is an original 69 Cuda 440 car so the k-member supports for the steering box require the line to the pan to go around the k-member as the pictures show.

I have primed the oil pump three times by breaking the connection at the bottom of the curved tube and shooting lubriplate into the suction side of the pump and then running the pump with a drill. It primes right away and I ram the pump for about 5 minutes. I waited for 1 minute, started the drill, pressure ok, then 5 minutes, started the drill, pressure ok. Then after 30 minutes and checked prime again, and no pressure.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It might help if you could run a section of line above the pump then connect it to the inlet on the pump. What
little bit of oil in the line would rest against the pump keeping it "primed". Kinda like whats pictured below. I noticed with the MM pump cover that I'll loose prime after 2 weeks of setting. My Milodon never did that. Could set all winter and still have oil pressure at startup. Thank goodness for an oil accumalator!

Is your cover a mm cover? Yours exits the back of the pump, mine out the top (or bottom).

Here's how mine are. Zero problems. You need to figure away to put a loop in it.

you have an air leak

This can be caused by excessive clearance in the pump to end plates. It takes very little extra clearance to create problems. A high point in the lines will fix you up.

Thanks for the help! I will have to figure out how to route the line to put a high loop in it.

if that is going to get raced I wouldn't be surprised if a tech inspector told you to come back once you got that fixed .

Yes you have to loop the line up above the pump, I have mine almost to the head then down to the pump. By the way , what's that long bolt doing hanging down from the cross member, looking for a flat tire?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Which oil filter are you using?

I had the same problem and it was the oil filter that was causing the problem. The anti-drainback valve was not sealing.

The oil filter is a WIX. The long bolt connects to the torque strap, not yet connected.

The oil line is getting relocated. BTW the oil line is well above the bottom of the pan...it will probably take more abuse than the oil pan IMO.

Thanks for the feedback.

Here are the pics with the re-routed line.

Got good oil pressure now. I hope it holds prime. It held 2 hours between running so far.

Thanks for all the help.

I dont have the external pickup on mine but if i go this route i may consider a one way flow valve (check valve)

Or you could get a Titan pump and not have to worry about it. My Milodon pump did the same thing, no way I was putting that junk on my new motor.
