How tall and wide a slick can you get in an early b body (63 dodge) stock wheel house?

28X10.5 M/T on a 64 Belvedere with no problem. Ran a M/T 29565R15 drag radial, 30 in. tall, and they hit the front of the wheel opening when they grew. (yes, they grow)

These are 30 x 9 Hoosier radial slicks on my 63 Sport Fury and they fit perfect. No rubbing at all. I had 29 x 11.5 Hoosier QTP tires on it and they fit with about 1/4 to 1/2" clearence on the spring and fender sides. But they would rub alot on turns. So much that smoke was coming out of my wheelwell turning on a highway ramp. So I drive it on the 30 x 9 Hoosier radial slicks because nobody makes a 30 x 9 drag radial. But the 30" tall fits with room to spare hieght wise. Ron

These tires in my sig pic were the 29 x 11.5 Hoosier QTP tires. They just rub to much on turns. Ron

We've always run either 29.5x9.0 or 30x9.0 slicks on our '64 Savoy using a 15x8 wheel w/ 4.5" backspacing.

These are 30x9.0 Firestones in this pic.

Scott, do the Cal Tracs prevent you from running a wider tire?

No.

The slicks come close to the wheel lip on the drivers side. I think we had to do some slight trimming actually. The Firestone slicks rubbed the leaf spring a little bit too. Not bad by any means though. Those Firestones balloon out a lot for only being a 9" wide tire. We will be running 30x9.0 M/T ET Drags the next time we take it to the track.

It's a '68 B-Body Dana in the stock spring location.

How have you been doing Dave?

I am running a 67 b body width rearend, should give me a hair more room on the wheel lip side, you did not have any problems with the 30 inch tire getting into the wheel well in the front?

What rear springs are you running mono-leaf or stock style?

It's close on ours, but it has never hit the front.

Stock-style springs made by St. Louis Spring. We'll get some mono-leafs on there one day.
