Car is not real early built and it states they borrowed it from Stiles for the roadtest.
I wonder if possibly it was built to be given to Bill Stiles by Chrylser.

I think lack of options (stripes/mouldings & vinyl top & road lamps) is helpful evidence.

This would be only the third FJ6 1971 440+6 Cuda that I've heard/seen with documentation. Joe's would make four but unfortunatly he hasn't found the BCS or tag to my understanding yet (no disrespect Joe)

He's familiar with your car Alan and he is starting with basically a solid, complete car, missing a few things.
He's quite capable of the resto as he has no less than six B-bodies in his stable.
Plus we now believe his Cuda to be "magazine famous".

If it was the one at Carlisle this year then that brings the number of known FJ6 cars back down to two plus Joes

The owner of the Cuda can take it the information and go in the direction he feels suits him the best. Mccannix your knowledge started this thread and thanks for looking at the Cuda with me and supplying some hard to get needed parts. Maybe all this will get me to work on my Cuda,instead of just buying parts for it.

I'd start combing 411.com for guys by the name of David Price and see if you can find him. Maybe he has more pics in his archives or remembers something more "specific" about the car that would be a surer link.

I still have this issue of SSDI as well.

Also, I have found it interesting in the engine photo that even though this is a 71 car, it has 70 style 1114429 carb solenoid (with the round head plunger) instead of the proper 1114443 hex head plunger with the brass cap and wire attached, which was exclusive to 71.

I've been thinking about this for a bit and talking to some friends and there's one thing I'm confused about.

I, more then anybody, realize how rare these 71 Cuda are in certain colours or combinations....
However ....Is there any other information that ties this recently purchased FJ6 car to the one in the magazine?

Is it just because the two cars are presummed to be identically optioned?

Is there any ownership history that can back up any claim being made that they made be one in the same?

Just being optioned the same is a bit of a stretch isn't it?

I heard on 680 Radio News there was a lot of smoke over Georgetown this past couple of days. For one thing I started this thread only to help a person out with the color of a grille. This person will come to his own conclusions if this car is the Magazine Car or not via the information that is amassed. I dont think he cares and did not buy the car to get his name in any magazine or to have the Cuda grace any pages to put a feather in his cap. If he wanted his name in a magazine I am sure one of his other cars could do that for him very easily.

Add it up from what is known from this thread. Car is virtually built with the same options as the Magazine car. In the past Mccannix and I had heard about this car from others and did not even know that the Cuda had made it to about 4 miles from were I live. Just how many were built with this color.I know of 6,does that make it the car in the Magazine,no. I myself have never stated that it is the car in the magazine, it sure leads in that direction but it will take some more research to make it a 100% thing. From what I know about the Cuda it is closer to being the Magazine car than any other 1971 440-6 Cuda with FJ6 paint. There is other information known about the car and I hope people that read this will offer any information on the Cuda Magazine Car they know. No matter what this Cuda is it is being restored the way the new owner whats it to be restored. I dont think he is going to follow the exactly build (Fender Tag/Broadcast Sheet)as the factory did and that is his choice. No Matter what it will be one cool Cuda,magazine article or not.

The Cuda was at Carlisle this summer and that is where the current owner first saw it.
The fender tag codes would lead one to believe that there is a strong possibility that this is the car tested by Super Stock.

As memory serves it is a December 1970 Scheduled Production date. The 'R' SO prefix is generally accepted as an executive ordered car.
The tag also includes Y28 which denotes a Company Car/Public Relations.

But who really cares?
A solid body, Sassy Grass, shaker hood 4-10 Dana 71 440-6 Cuda with original fender tag and two broadcast sheets.

To think this car ran ebay twice and sat all weekend at Carlisle with no sale was incredible.
