I got a spare rallye wheel that came with my car when I bought it. I was told it came off a Red AAR with a build date of April 2 if I recall correctly. (I have the AAR's VIN around here somewhere) I got several other parts from that AAR with my car also because the AAR had been totaled.

Anyway, I was looking at this rallye wheel, and I'm not seeing any stampings on it. Shouldn't it have a pentastar and 15 x 7 JJ and a date code or something like that? Or, did the earlier wheels not have these stampings?

Where do I look? What do I have here?

Thanks
Tav

I have heard that some of the earlier plain wheels didn't have part #'s

I did manage to find some #'s on my Rallye wheel though (with a little help from some sandpaper, it had been repainted)

There are some #'s on the outside of the wheel near the valve stem.
294?390 (? It's hard to read cause it's not stamped deep, but this is the part #)
MI
9 12 (valve stem) 9 Pentastar

So it's an M wheel (which is some kind of vendor code) made in 1969, on December 9th.

Is that about the right date for an April 2 SPD AAR, or is this from some other car?

With the wheel sitting up on edge (as it would on the car) and the valve stem all the way at the bottom, I found some numbers inside the wheel (where the tire would cover them up) at about the 1 o'clock position.

2 (Archaic Wheel Association symbol) M 15x 7 JJ
D 2 MADE IN U.S.A. MI9 852

Anyone know what the 852 means?

I've got a full set of 14 inch rallyes here now. I've had them about 10 years. They came with my 70 'cuda, which is coded for 14 inch rallyes on the broadcast sheet. I swapped on a repro set of 15 inch rallyes several years ago, and have just been using this 14 inch set to roll projects around the shop when needed.

I recently took a look at the #'s stamped onto the wheels. Yes, they're a full matching set. They all have the same stampings with a date code of April 14th. (my 'cuda SPD is June 1970). I'm having trouble figuring out what YEAR these wheels are from. There is a "4" stamped next to the letter M. It's hard to read what is stamped below the M where the year is usually located. Nearest I can tell, it resembles a 0 with a line over it. Maybe that's a # 3? Anyone seen markings like this before? Are these 73 or 74 wheels? I'm guessing they're not the right set for my 70 'cuda?

Check out the pics...

They look like 2nd version centers. What's the part number in the 1st pic?
Are you sure those are 14x5-1/2"?

Here's a M1/9 12 -O- 17 "rallye wheel" (14x5-1/2" 12/17/69)

I have a matching set (5) of 1971 15 X 7 Rallye wheels part# 2944390 dated 12-29-70 with 2 orig dark centers as well as 2 orig G60-15 polyglas GT tires that were still mounted when I got them-the tires are dated B4 and B3NBJCDL-2nd and 3rd week of 71' from the Akron Ohio plant. I have access to the other dark centers and trim rings with the part # stickers still on them w/part# 3461222. I'd love to get a set that HEMIGREG has dated 8/69 for early 70' car with the matching 15 X 7 steel wheel spare for early cars as well. I've heard they have no part# as well-just date codes.

Would any car in '70 or '71 have 5 matching "rallye", "road", or body colored wheels, or
is the spare always a "black" steel wheel?
