Can someone tell me what size tubing is used for the bolt-in subframe connectors that Mopar Performance sells?

I think it is 2x2 inch I use 2x3 .083 and slide it into the rear subframes and plug weld it to the sides as well as as to the edge of the rear subframe edges. I weld it to the back side of the transmission crossmember also

I used 1 5/8 .134 wall round tube.. I also tie the ladder bar cross bar mount into the frme ties, and have done some other tubes in there.. this was on my brothers dart and it seems to work well....

It's 1"x2" tubing.

I use 2X3 but keep it under the floor and overlap the rear frame and box the back end.

2X2 here, I notch the rear frame rails and weld. I also use a 3/16" plate in the front welded to the transmission cross member.

Thanks for the answer to the original question and all the pics... nice looking work on all of them.

The challenge I am faced with though is that I want to run mufflers and turn the exhaust out to the side, but this is a back-halfed car. I have to either go under the 2x3 crossmember
or out the sides, so I am trying to keep the frame rails that run from front to back as high as possible.

If I go with 2x3 tubing from the 2x3 X member to the front near the torsion bars, I will probably have to lay the 2x3 "flat" rather that "tall" if you know what I mean, so I have that extra ground cleaance. Only other options I can think of to keep them high is to run them inside the car (which I am not crazy about), or use smaller tubing.

I have to give up something one way or another. I guess there is oval exhaust tubing too, but never worked with it.

Sounds like you could use some aircraft tubing, very low profile. You gave me I idea for my next car. These are a bunch of old wind stands from my TAD.

I had the same issue so i gave up my X-piped exhaust and am using car chemistry header inserts from Jegs.

if you use 2x3 you cut the floor in the rear and fit it tight and weld it up or you can also look at the US CAR TOOL connectors. i have them on my car and they look like the car came with them and they dont hang low

2x2 at .083" or a little thicker should be plenty, especially if you tie the roll bar into it. 2 short bars just behind the seats angled in from the main hoop and welded onto the frame connectors help a lot. Tack-welding to the floor where the connectors touches also helps.

It's not always how big or thick the tubing is but how it's put together. Race car fabricators save a lot of weight by "triangulating" the tubing in the chassis/roll bars.

I never cared for "bolt-in" frame connectors or their smaller size.

Me too. But I used two per side.

Plenty strong, and really made the car feel "tighter"

Yep, I only used one bar but I have many others in there to help make it stronger. It all ties in to the ladder bars. I thought it was going to be way hevier than just the 2x3 box but it was 3lbs lighter. Even with all those extra bars.. And I still have room for my exhaut pipes...
