I have gone 10.26 so far,,,,with a 440 (.030) with ported Edelbrock heads,,,,and your car is lighter than mine by about 150 lbs.
plus i can use all my usual valve train stuff,,headers,,,etc,,,and stay low buck.
maybe the INDY EZ would be a step up from the E heads... ?

who would you get the Indys through? I thought all their stuff needs to be gone through before you bolt em on. Cam? Roller?
My last motor was 30 over 440 with nothing more than a 650 mech cam and 440-1 heads out of the box and 950 carb. It ran 10.40 @132 every pass shifting at 6000 rpm's i still run these same heads with a 1.91 valve and a 630 lift roller and its a little faster now.

I don't quite agree that 440-1's would be budget minded. The Harland rockers cost more for the 440-1, I think an EZ headed combo with the Crane R280 roller would make a great combo, or ported super Victors. I run the ported 440-1's on my 500" low deck, I'm getting it figured out but haven't been super impressed so far compared to my old 451 E-headed combo but that car was lighter and had a big tire.

Who did you get the ported Edelbrocks from? 69CHARGERMD? What cam are you running?
My Edelbrocks were done by Dwayne Porter (board member here,,,),,,work is outstanding,,,highly recomend him.
Cam is a solid cam, comp cams, custom grind, ( not a roller ),,, specs; 269/274 duration 640 lift 111 lobe installed @ 109*
Flow on the heads per Dwayne are : 305.4 @ .700 303.6 @ .650 301.8 @ .600 etc,,,,
Car is low maintenence relatively speaking,,, My goal is to get under the 10.20 range,,,as i work on my 60' times,,etc.
good luck,
Doug
