What RPM's are people using
for the 2 step? Do you set rpms
at max torque or just keep adding
rpm until 60ft slows down?
3200lb 73 Duster
610 torque at 4800
604hp 5600
400ci
Auto w/ cal-tracs
4:56 gear w/29.5 tire
Thanks Mike

I think it depends more on what the stall of your converter is, you don't want it set higher than the stall speed.

You're gonna have to do some testing.
Higher rpm doesn't always mean quicker 60' or more consistent 60s.
3400 works for me.

depends on what kind of racing you are doing and if you have a trans brake or not. foot brake race I set mine at 2000.

The car is bracket raced and we are
using a trans brake. Stall speed is 4700.

...how did you come up with your stall number? is that it's advertised stall or have you done a high gear test to get a true stall.?..u can also find out the stall by taking the low end chip out and matting it and watch the tach and see where it goes up to.which ever way u choose is fine, but you need to know the real stall to help make your decision ...as stated previously each car will react differently..the rear suspension will also dictate what rpm to leave at..my car is a small tire car with coil overs and ladder bars..i leave at 3000 but thats not the fastest(60 ft.) rpm for my car but it's the most consistant..and thats why i use it..my car stalls at 4500 doing the high gear test but if i try to leave at that high rpm i run into alot of 60' times jumping around..if i bring the rpm down to 3k it's much more dependable..so i suggest you start at 3k and go from there..good luck..

I dont use a chip for launch... I have a 3 step but
no chip for launch.... 1 chip for the burnout and 1
for over rev... 5600 stall converter and I leave at
5600 rpm on the converter.... that gives me a 1.19
60'(best) normal is a 1.21 60'

I would run it as low as I can to save parts in the trans, and for consistency. I would start testing at 2600 to 2800 rpm and see if it will leave consistently there. No sense beating up parts if you don't have to.

My last racer I had a 6400 in the Low side, and a 8K in the high...On a few incidents, I ran it up against the high side once or twice.

Especially if it keeps you green.
