The price has come down. I bought one of the 1st pieces when they came out,$1400. I don't use the blow off valves. I start the engine with the throttle open in case of back fire. That way the pressure escapes past the throttle blades.

I plan to use the carbs off of the old crossram the carbs have a different jet in each corner what would be a good place to start on jet .060 440 12.5:1 sr cnc heads .620 flat tappet not too familiar with afb/edelbrock carbs

Right on. If you do that you will never blow a manifold apart. I ran that manifold for a couple years, no blow off valves.

I disagree... I was at 131 a couple of years ago for the CC Event Race and that is where I blew my 2nd intake. I started the car and was "driving" through the pits on Friday to go get teched in and while "driving" the intake exploded. There were many Moparts members there that saw this happen and even Nick Wilson from Compuflow saw it happen. Get the blow off valves

its all in the jetting. no expansion valves here either.

I agree they don't hurt anything. I'm just to cheap to spend $75 x 2 for them. Why would these manifolds be any more prone to exploding than any other large open plenum style? I did blow up a Hemi cross ram while driving in the pits. It hung a intake valve wide open and BOOM. It sent one of the original A990 carbs into the original A990 scoop and stuck it there. The bowl vents pierced the scoop like a paper punch. Blow offs are like any other insurance item. Pay your money or take your chances.

Dripping fuel or getting crazy pumping it upon start up is an issue with these intakes - cause they do like to go boom. Look for fuel dripping it can be a high float etc.. but one cause of dripping fuel is from these new edelbrock carbs. If you ever backfired an newer Eddy carb you have a better than 50% chance it will drip. it's an issue with the casting method that was not seen on the original carters - look at primary from underneath mainly around the idle air bleed screw for small cracks or worse yet missing material. The other issue is the screws on the throttle paltes coming loose and causing the throttle plate to mis-align and cause a high idle.

I agree with your statement about the drippin fuel - I also know of many others that have had the issue while driving. I know there are many that have never had an issue and that is great but maybe one day just when you are ready to go to the final round and she blows ---- then you find the carb issue that was hidden for a while and now it just cost you alot more money. Not every car will be perfect every time - get the blow offs

Would you drive your car with out insurance? It's like anything else you don't need till it happens to you.If you don't want to spend the dollars, you can make them yourself very easily.

I went way cheap on my cross ram. Just got some plastic plugs from McMaster Carr and submerged a few in gas for a few days. Found a couple that didn't warp and melt. Then I drilled a few holes in the intake and siliconed the plugs in there.

I've "sneezed" a couple times. Nothing major. Everytime, it pops those things out! I either find them or replace them with others that I keep in the glovebox! I've got about $7 invested in this!
