Yes, My MSD doesn't like anything below 12.3 you need more stored amps or a charging system, the higher the volts the less the amp draw, your voltage is way too low
Guess its time for a new battery.

Found a slick little voltage stepup box from SpeedwayMotors.com #935-64000. Puts 17.5-17.7 volts into the MSD with batt voltage as low as 10.5V. Haven't made a pass yet but guys using it swear by it.
The little old lady from Pasadena is back!

Here is some real world data, the bottom graph is battery voltage, this is a car without an alternator and two batteries, return style fuel regulator, mallory 250 fuel pump, MSD 7al, Mega 85 Delay box, RPM datalogger running, ACD controlled CO2 shifter, Moroso electric water pump drive, dash and tail lights(LED), and a Shogun LED dial board on. I charge every round. FYI, just data. Open attachement and view full screen to best view.

You can run a later model alternator with an internal regulator, I just put a Powermaster on mine.

Do you think it would be any benefit to a 6AL ?

I run a 85 amp Denso alt with a external regulator (I use the high out put Mopar regulator) and I use just a single battery.... I cant remember how many years its been since I put a charger on it. Trans brake, water pump, fan, 7al, 2 fuel pumps and a tail light plus I'm putting a small fan in the car to circulate some air inside

A couple of thoughts.. The MSD boxes need voltage to run. Regarding the alternator, a trick we have run on some of our cars is to switch off the alternator's Field lead.. EZ to install a simple toggle switch in series for the Field wire lead, turn it OFF when rippin down the strip. Turn it ON to keep the battery charged. Many people don't realize how much drag the alternator pulls while charging.. Just my $0.015...
