I'm having my 588ci Hemi built and we are expecting around 900hp. I was wondering if I should get rid of my cal-tracs and get a 4-link instead. I don't know if the Cal-Tracs are up to the task......
Ya I know sorry for another Cal-Trac question....

Absolutely depends on what you plan to do with it. For a serious race effort that does not have rules where you have to run Caltracs you are WAY better off with a 4 link.

Well, I don't know what the HP limit is with Cal Tracs, but I do KNOW of a 3,200 lb twin turbo big block 67 Camaro with Cal Tracs/Springs and 10.5 slicks and I SAW it go 8.48 @ 164 a couple of weeks ago. Then came back and went 8.51 and 8.50...then killed the glide.
Try it....

You don't consider the missing 7 hundredths a problem? There are also consistency and tunability issues as well. CalTracs are a VERY GOOD product but they aren't 4 links.

I have to take into consideration the day it went 9.22 @147.04 the air was much better but sidewalls were gone, it was also a tad lea, if i went up to a ricner jettting, it still had more, but it was time to dial in so i left it alone. i just set up another set of carbs wit the richer jetting and new slicks so we'll see. the caltracs definitely worked but i feel a difference with stability with the ladder bars.
