I'm having my 588ci Hemi built and we are expecting around 900hp. I was wondering if I should get rid of my cal-tracs and get a 4-link instead. I don't know if the Cal-Tracs are up to the task......

Ya I know sorry for another Cal-Trac question....

Finally a HUSKER again
The charger we bought had 1450 with the bottle, and it was a cal track car, went straight as an arrow, and hauled the mail. Here it is...

I think this is with stock front suspention, after he put the coil overs up front it stopped skying like that, and got faster.

Absolutely depends on what you plan to do with it. For a serious race effort that does not have rules where you have to run Caltracs you are WAY better off with a 4 link.

Lets hear your Hemi build specs.
I plan to run My Home made caltracks with my Hemi. If your car is going to see an street time, the cal tracks would be better and much more safe IMO.

Well, I don't know what the HP limit is with Cal Tracs, but I do KNOW of a 3,200 lb twin turbo big block 67 Camaro with Cal Tracs/Springs and 10.5 slicks and I SAW it go 8.48 @ 164 a couple of weeks ago. Then came back and went 8.51 and 8.50...then killed the glide.

Try it....

You don't consider the missing 7 hundredths a problem? There are also consistency and tunability issues as well. CalTracs are a VERY GOOD product but they aren't 4 links.

I have to take into consideration the day it went 9.22 @147.04 the air was much better but sidewalls were gone, it was also a tad lea, if i went up to a ricner jettting, it still had more, but it was time to dial in so i left it alone.
i just set up another set of carbs wit the richer jetting and new slicks so we'll see.
the caltracs definitely worked but i feel a difference with stability with the ladder bars.

Well - all know my stance.

If class rules arent an issue if the fabrication isnt an issue.

You would be silly not to run a 4 link. I personally am not a fan of ladder bar cars. They at times run out of adjustability. The daytona I ran for years was LB car and it drove me crazy at times when I needed to change things.

LB cars can work, they just dont have the tuning and adjustability of a 4 link.

There ain't nothing wrong with Cal Tracs that a good four link can't fix In all truthfulness Cal Tracs are a excellent product and do a good job where you can't run a laddar bar or a four link or three link due to rules or space or budget constraints. I have owned and raced several different Dusters with ladder bars and I like them a lot I have freinds who have lighter weight cars with four link that work excellent, you can hook them up in a mud bog in the middle of a rain storm And I know there is at least one Cal Trac racer on here that can do that also on a nine inch tire The decision is yours
