my friend has a mini tubbed Scamp with MP relocate kit on it. if you try to put a 30" tall tire on the car it will hit the quarter. if you move the front spring eye back then there is interference for the rear shackle.
my thought process was this( but i'm f'ed up) the rear needs to move back 2". i was thinking about Calverts monos with a shorter rear segment and use a front segment from a B/E body car. this will move the rear back a perfect 2" from where it is and i'm sure the rear spring could be matched up from a chevy or ford spring.
any opinions or how do you guys go about stock suspension A bodys with tall tires?

When I set my car up origionally I set the rear back 1.5" for tire clearance, when I switched to ladder bars I kept the same wheel base, my front to rear ratio is at 51% front,49% rear.

easy to do on a ladder car but on springs, did you just move the shackle back 1.5 also, seems like it would hit something back there, not sure what it is

If you have MP spring perches welded to the rear they have three holes in them. The front hole will move the rear back about 1.5". You just have to redrill the shock mount (bottom plate) to match. Did this on our 64 Plymouth and it worked great.

Doesn't bend the perches or anything? you weld a strap around the rear to the perches? that is a great idea.

I just did my '70 Dart. Moved the rear back 1". Boxed in a new rear spring hanger and moved the front hanger up in the frame to lower the car. A 29.5x12 Hoosier slick fits with clearence everywhere. Didnt even need to roll the wheel lip like usually do.
We did a '68 Dart for a friend - moved springs in under frame rails, moved the springs back 1 1/4", and widened the stock tubs (inside is flush with framerail. At the rear we had to notch out the braces where the bumper bolts to the rear panel to install the tubes for the spring perches. Also, the owner had originaly bought 28/11.5/15 QTP's, but when he switched to 295/65/15 MT Drag Rads (30" tall), the front still cleared the 1/4's, but the tread face is close to the rear of the tub, and has hit several times. We are now pie-slicing the tub and trimming the trunk floor/trunk extensions for tire clearance. That area is circled in pic.

wouldn't it be just as easy to change the tub?
Not sure which post you are referring to; if mine, our options are:(1)Owner wants to stay with this size tire and ride height, and there isn't enough room at front of 1/4 to move axle forward. (2)Reshape rear of tub area. So we sliced the tub about 5" on each side and added filler metal, and trimmed about 1 1/4" across trunk floor. Pass side is done - only took about 1 1/2hr. I have to trim an electronics panel on the drivers side, which is no big deal, then modify the tub and then there will be plenty of clearance.
