I have the 9 way adjustables. #99116

Nothing on their site, and the only thing in the box, other than the shocks, were decals.

What do the settings, 1 thru 9, represent? Is setting #1 the easiest to compress, or extend?

I understand 70/30, 60/40, etc., but not these.

thanks

On most shocks you will be adjusting the extension
BUT it might be tightening the compression some also,
the higher the number the harder it is to pull apart.
Maybe someone that runs those will verify this

your right mr p body it extended.. You want it as stiff ( extended ) as you can before the car spins and then back it down one. I assume this is on the cal-tracs..

Most of the guys that I know that run the Ranchos
have them set about 8... with some even at 9, to me
they arent that good because your AT or just short of
max and that doesnt leave any more to play with BUT
I guess they are alright for a cheaper shock... JMO

They work a LOT better than the Mopar long drag shocks, which I replaced with the RS 9000's. I get best results with the #9 setting. 3200# SS springs, and 16# in the Goodyear radial slicks. RandyB

I've played with the setting over time and found that #7 is better for my car.. I did try #8 on a crappy track and went back to #7.. You'll have to play with it to find what works better for your car..

I have mine at 4 3200lb with driver (but fairly light in the rear) 10.5 lb in the hoosier bias ply 29.5x10.5. As I understand it, they are always 50/50, but the valving changes the force applied.

We've played with the settings on our car and I never really know what the car wants. The track around here is short and not prepped all that great. I was under the impression that on a loose track the shocks should be set higher (#8 or 9) and on a good track they could be set lower. Am I BASS ACKWARDS on that or what. I did turn them downto 3 and 4 one day and they seemed to work good, next weekend with nothing changed we had NO hook at all. I currently have them set on 9 for Pinks in Seattle.

Yeah, which setting gives the least resistance?

BTW, good luck in Seattle.

Is that the part number for the shocks??

That's the "series".
RS 9114 (old 5-way) and RS 99114 (new 9-way) are a direct bolt-in for A-bodies. It has the correct sized bushings top & bottom. It's best to confirm if the compressed and expanded lengths will be compatible with the ride height on your specific vehicle.

Not sure on the E & B body applications but they have different top bushings. Rancho has, or had, a detailed listing of their shock part #'s and specs to refer to. But I lost the direct link earler this year when my computer crashed.

i, too, have the 9 ways. they completely changed the way my car launches- much better! the ss shocks alowed WAY too much extension. as far as i can tell, the settings change compression and rebound damping. 9 on the street is uncomfortably hard, but just right on the track. i've experimented with lower settings at the track, but mine likes nine.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

Mine are set at 9 too. I probably need a better shock, but they work for now. CHIP
