Do you have a thermostat on it? If it does i would look at it first .Did the car go lean on fuel through the run maybe ?How did it run on the last pass?

What temp did you start at on the first 2 passes? We run only 200ft stage @ 140 to 150 trap @ 180 when we shut down @ 190 we run the pump and fan for a few min till we are back at 130 to 140 and do it again I think 180 is too high to stage with

I put a piece of clear tubing in the upper rad hose
just to see if coolant is moving.... the first time
of the year(after I drain the anti-freeze and fill
it with water and water wetter) it doesnt circulate
the coolant... once I get it up to temp and shut down
the engine I play around with it till it starts to
circulate then I can fill it up all the way.... it
does this every year.... the clear tube is one of
the best things I did for the cooling system

If the car went faster on the last run that tells me it was making more power(or better traction) and HP makes heat You staged it hotter so it got hotter during that run, no harm no foul, IMO
