And now I am enjoying a very smooth shifting transmission. I drained my trans today and filled it with Pennzoil Synchromesh. After a 15 mile cruise around town , zero to 6500 rpm (nebraska's not very crowded) I am happy to report it shifted alot smoother, upshift and downshift.

I run it in the Cuda's TKO and it works as well as anything could. I use ATF in my Mustang's T-5 since that's what Ford and Tremec both advise for T-5's. These transmissions are similar in design, but T-5's use a different synchro material.

Hey Josh, what type of trans do you have in your car?

Is there any different "grade" ie. 80/90 to the synchromesh. I would like to drain my 73 a-body trans and try the synchromesh. How many quarts will I need?

I changed to synchromesh from atf when I did my engine swap. I am very happy with how it shifts . Mine took 3 1/2 quarts.

23 spline or 18 spline? Also, where did you find the Pennzoil synchromesh?

Thanks for the headsup on the " 1 grade" info.
My dart sport has regular gear lube and sometimes when driving it like it was designed for (HARD ) I get a little noise in the 1-2 shift. I'll switch over and see what happens.

8.5 pints

8.5 pints equals 4.25 quarts.

I was told to use Castrol synthetic. Didn't find it. I put Mobil1 in. Now if I could finish the swap.

My manual says 7.5 pints which equals about 3.75 quarts

yes I was incorrect about the conversion, it is not 3.5 quarts

this is from the 68 dodge service manual, it has two columns one for U.S. measure and one for imperial measure.

I got it at autozone its not a hard to find item.

Not to OT this topic but back in 72/73 I changed my 18 splines fluid and the service manual said to use 140 wt gear oil.. Man was that a slow shifting, gear missing tranny....
