Thnx for the great pics. It's great the capsule was un-harmed, but man, what a shame for the poor car. I'm afraid there's no fixin' that one...these pics really show how badly rusted up she is.

What's wrong with Boyd? Simply the fact that he or his goons don't give a [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean]. No respect towards the car whatsoever. He broke the passenger side vent window. They hammered down the side window. The glovebox was forced open with a screwdriver. What a joke. It is like giving an Imperial to a demo derby guy and expect him take good care of it. Hope they don't mess up that car more than they have already.

I want to know who won the car. Give the winner their car and lets get this over with already.

The carb looks like it turned to powder. Seems like the air cleaner is sitting on top of a mound of sand.
Too bad it turned out like that. I am sure there was better technology in 57 that what was used to stored this time capsule.
Plastics, rubber seals, tar even a simple drain could have been used to empty the possibility of water infiltration.
Not too much brainstorming went on when they buried her. R.I.P. Belvee.

The report I saw said it may take a month or more to determine the winner and find them or their heirs.

Boyd is there because there is an opportunity to make a lot of money. He is a real shady business man and he has done well for himself. He is a great promotor and a very smart guy... he's going to do a TV show and it will be a big hit... watch and see....

I'm kinda curious why all this "Boyd bashing" on this thread. I personally dont care for the guy, but, he was there cuz he was asked to be. He plugged his show cuz they asked him to, and he ended up taking the same position that the majority of us here did, which is to leave the car just like it is. What did he do that was so wrong? Did I miss something?

Did you see the way he acted? Couldn't care about the whole situation at all. Was there only because it was good P.R.

I agree. He and Dwayne have all the grace and poise of a bull in a china shop.

But existing is basically all I do.

The real buried car was stolen years ago and replaced with a rotter that was found in a field.

Thanks to all who posted pictures!

Sad that the car didn't make it. Looking forward to seeing how it cleans up. Surly it will look better.

This has been quite an experience. I wasn't able to make the trip to Tulsa but I was able to meet some of the folks that were heading there from out east. There was a Car show / welcoming party held in St. Louis for them Monday the 11th. Super nice group of people and it was neat to see so much enthusiasm. A couple guys were there all the way from England!

Lets hope the Prowler fares better in 2048.

Wow. After going to the unveiling I feel small for being critical of how this was handled. When the time capsule was opened and against a white lining it said "Tulsarama" it was wonderful! My goodness if the vault had survived like the steel time capsule how spectacular the show would have been.

With hindsight it is easy to see the way "they" handled the event was so much better than my previous thoughts. Regardless of what it took I wanted them to open the lid yesterday, rig, and bring her out at whatever time and then simply unveil. I was so wrong. Getting her into the area and behind the curtain with a drum roll and special music was so much better.

Can you imagine how exciting it would have been if it was obvious she was pristine the moment the vault was opened just like when the cover was removed from the time capsule? Heck there would have been dancing in the streets during that parade from the vault to the area and then the cheers when the curtain was lifted and the motor started!

I thank the Tulsarama committee of both 1957 and 2007 for making this such a wonderful event.

I'm sad to see such a beautiful car sit like that. Too bad they didn't think it through better back in '57. That plastic kept the car moist between floods. I feel bad for the people that were there in '57 more than anyone else. What a letdown. It was a cool idea and props go to the citizens of Tulsa for the whole event and original idea.

After seeing how well the time capsule held up under all that water I hope they decide to exhume the Prowler, remove it from the concrete vault, place a welded steel lining in the vault, then seal her up. LOL I think it is amazing that we have another buried car in Tulsa and love that it is a mopar! I am going to start eating better and exercising. I want to be here in 2048!

Thank you. I think you have the right take on this event. It should have been and was a "homespun" event. It wasn't a polished slick production. I like that. This happening was planned in 1957 to celebrate Oklahoma's 100th anniversary. Happy Birthday!

For everyone that wants glitz and glamor there is lots of footage that will be turned into well produced TV time I am sure.

Proud to be an Okie...

Organizers should have known enough to "Avoid the Boyd".
To deter any more circus that may follow, they should gracefully lower that poor car back into the vault, slide the lid on and give her a decent burial, let her rest where she started life

Hello all. I happened to find your forum after doing so searching on the net to get other people's opinions of how this has all unfolded. Great site you have here.

Anyway, I just wanted to post a link of a rebroadcast while the car was being unearthed for those of you that had trouble with the live feeds.

Enjoy!

It seems like the 'proper' thing to do. I cant see much gained by leaving the car out. put a nice memorial explaining the events etc.

she's definatly can be saved. if i can get some pics of mine up i will. but mine sat in a barn for almost 40 years, and was much worse than the tulsa plymouth that was under water.
