I took these bumper brackets on off a cuda front RUBBER bumper that I had and they had 2962448-9 stamped on the outer brackets.

In checking the 70-71 parts books I see that for the outer brackets 2962284-5 are for standard chrome bumpers and 2962446-7 are for the rubber bumpers.

So the question what exactly are the 2962448-9 part number brackets that I have for? Visually they look like and match up with cuda bumper brackets so its pretty obvious that is what are they for, so what is the application? Chrome Bumpers? Rubber Bumpers?

Thanks

All chrome brackets have the third last digit as a two, all elastomeric bumper brackets have the third last digit as a four. The first four digits are the same for all brackets.

Numbers on bumper brackets with colored bumpers should be 2962442-3 inner, 2962446-7 outer.

This is what a couple other people told me. I haven't looked into it thoroughly myself yet. Hope that helps.

Does each part have a # stamped on it? (4 parts = inner & outer right, inner & outer left) The parts book may only list them together as an assembly the way they were sold?

They sound like elastomeric bumper brackets to me. Got a picture?

Another person told me the elastomeric bumper brackets are slotted for adjustment, but I'm not so sure that's true.

I'd love to see a picture. In particular I'm wondering if the holes are slotted for adjustment.

I've been told the elastomeric bumper brackets move the bumper inward towards the car about 3/8 of an inch. Also, the elastomeric coating around the bumper core makes the bumper thicker than normal, which also makes the bumper appear closer to the car.
