Why do you think the bag is ripped? Remember yesterday when they put up the plastic so noone could see in? Don't you think they ripped it open to see what kind of shape the car is in??
My thought is that the weight and pressure of the water pushing in on it once it filled the vault caused it to tear, and right there at the fin wouldve been the most likely spot if there wasnt enough "loose bag" to allow for that. Put your hand in a plastic bag and then shove it down in a container of water. The bag will immediately try to take the form of your hand. All it would need to cause a leak is a sharp point....like a fin on a car maybe.

Boyd C.????
What we really need is for GG to show up and verify that its a "1 of 1" '57 vault-buried Belvedere.
I hope the build sheet survived soaking in water for 50 years........otherwise we'll never know for sure.
Galen is there. He is diguised as the obese cop.

I kinda like (NOT) the part that they have had it up and down, in and out, and a whole bunch of other BS. The idea in 1957 was to bring it up, unwrap it and see what was there. Then give it to whomever. Now we have limited access 2 or 3 days in advance, they're jerking the thing in and out but the best part is the actual raising of the car will be done while spectators have to pay to watch it at their convention center on TV for a SMALL FEE of Course. Then 7 hours later, for I'm assuming another SMALL FEE you can watch as the plastic is removed. Who's to say there won't be a switcheroo involved??? Especially with BOYD involved. Food for thought. Why wait 7 hours to unwrap it??? Why not just do it right there on the courthhouse lawn as was originally intended??? Becuase there is too much money to be made, by Boyd and the CITY OF TULSA. What a CROCK. SHAME SHAME ON THE CITY OF TULSA!!! This could have been done a lot of different ways and still added money to there coffers, but it might have taken some effort. SHAME, SHAME, No 1957 American values there. JUST money grubbing city officials that don't have a clue. I'll bet most of them weren't even born in 1957 Tim

I just got back from a drive downtown...took my daughter and she is now bouncing off the walls. There are plenty of '57 Plymouths to keep everyone happy. We counted 4, among which were a Plaza 2door sedan from MO, a Belvedere 4-door hardtop from CA, a Plaza 4-door sedan and a Belvedere coupe. Also, we saw a 58 Custom Royal D-500 coupe [VERY nice, from CA] , and a '56 NYer, still retaining the HEMI and factory A/C. Let the party begin!!

Sheez! Relax. The 15th was always the unveiling day. They needed to first figure out what they're dealing with. If you don't like all that's going on these few days, just ignore it all until the unveiling.
Either the taxpayers would have to pay for this, or the spectators can pay. It's better if the spectators pay.

I'm relaxed and glad I'm not wasting my time and money on this BS. This was just my take on this whole situation. No offense meant.

This has been on my Mopar Radar for a few years. Maybe 10. This is very poorly executed and as far as I am concerned... horrible for what it should have been. This very brainless woman or whoever is in charge just blew it bigtime... kinda sad... Bring it up, take off the plastic, and let us look...
I agree with this too...
This is tomorrows schedule: Notice they say "unearthing" well that has already happened:
Unearthing of Belvedere and Time Capsule Friday, June 15, 2007 12:00noon Tulsa County Courthouse. Limited public viewing available
Simulcast of Unearthing Friday, June 15, 2007 12:00noon Maxwell Convention Center, Exhibit Hall A. Closed Circuit Television
Next they say "Unveiling", I guess since I did not get involved I should keep quite but I say if "they" hide the car between the unearthing, take the plastic off, wash it, etc. it will be absolutely terrible...
Unveiling of Belvedere and Opening of Capsule Friday, June 15, 2007 6:30pm Maxwell Convention Center Arena. Doors open at 5:30pm General Admission Tickets $5, $10 and $25 purchased through Carson Attractions 584-2000 or http://www.carsonattractions.com
I hope "they" have enough sense to take the plastic off in public; however the way this has unfolded I am afraid they might try to clean her up...
