Just curious what difference the amount of oil ran in a car affects ET.
I generally run 6.5-7 quarts of oil, but currently have 8 in it. just curious what others have found/noted.

OK and did it make any difference in your car? I run a quart more than what is recommended for the pan because the external line and filter hold oil also.

As little oil as it takes to keep the warning lite off. Why did you feel the need to run more oil than your norm?
its an 8 quart pan, i just filled it all the way up this time for some reason, instead of my typical 6.5 to 7 quarts

i lost a tenth somewhere, and am guessing having 8 quarts in it is where it went

I did the same thing recently with my new build...I just thought a little extra oil for the new mill would be good insurance until I get to know the motor a little better. I have ~ 9 in it now, I ran 7 qt with the old motor.

Easy enough to figure out.Next time out run it again and then pull off the oil filter, dump it and see if it goes faster.

Not shure about et loss but my car had no issues running 6 qts. in an 8 qt. pan even at 7000+ rpm`s I never lost pressure.....had 75 psi at 7500 rpm`s.

It seems to me there should be harsher implications of too high oil level. What if the oil foams more, this could potentially cause pressure loss due to aeriation/ foaming

A lot depends on rpm, how much is being pushed through the motor, pan depth, type, etc. EVERY situation is different. For your purpose, get a good gauge, and set it up to be very responsive. Some are dampened by using a small hole at the gauge. Then watch what your system does under all conditions. Adjust accordingly.I ruined a lot of bearings till i figured out that the oil pressure "dip" in the traps was a lot worse than the gauge was telling me. An Accusump system can help you if you are going for the least oil in the pan, but can be overkill for most. In my case it is mandatory due to braking forces.
