Anyone make a good, race only, 727 steel (solid) replacement-type trans mount ?
Thanks, Reed in Neb.

be warned that you might end up breaking the tailshaft of your trans. it hasn't happened to me as i still use a nolethane bush but another mopar racer i know has broken 2 tailshafts with his solid mount. he always has some excuse for why it did it but i reckon it's the solid mount.

Hey Reed,
Brewers sells a poly mount that you might want to check out, I agree that a solid mount isn't a good idea for the trans, I seen one break the tailshaft on a 12 second Camaro years ago on about the third pass.

Solid mounting makes the trans part of the chassis structure, less of a problem if the chassis is very rigid but solid mounting in a flexy chassis can cause case flex and broken parts.

So is it cool to solid mount the trans tail in a full tube chassis car with front and mid motor plates?

I have a full tube chassis with a front and mid motor plate with a solid trans mount and have had zero problems so far it 60 fts at 1.40 running 6.5x in the 1/8 pulling the fronts about a ft off the ground.

70 duster full chassis super pro 416 CNC Indybrock heads 727 w/brake

best so far 1.212 60 6.219 in 1/8 at 110.88 9.768 at 137.81 1/4

I'd get a poly mount from Imperial Services.

I'm gonna say you;ve been lucky so far.... ALL chassis's
flex, its just a matter of how much and when they
flex the engine and trans dont stay on the same center
line.... remember your old math class... 2 points
are in a line... add a 3rd and it doesnt mean its
on the same line, specially when you add flex

I used a poly mount from Energy Suspension in the Daytona. Shouldn't be too hard to get one from them.

I guess time will tell but I did consult a well known chassis shop her in Fl and was told every full chassis he has ever built was all solid mounted so that's what I did.

Just and FYI but I ordered an early B-body to late trans poly conversion mount from Schumacher and had it in 2 days. It was the Imperial sourced mount. Cope is good too.
