I am in the middle of installing the roll cage in my 69 coronet and before I go any further I would like some opinions on wether this section I have done would pass a tech inspection. I posted some pics of the section and any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks,
Robert.

In my opinion the tech guy wont like it.... that
angle right before the main hoop is a weak point,
why didnt you go straight to the main hoop

The top halo bar is wider than the main hoop at that point so I had to turn a piece down and out.

What I would do is put a piece of tubing from the
angle to the corner of the main hoop(I.m sure that
would fly)

By that due you mean leaving as is and adding a tube to the upper part of the main hoop as a gusset.

do you have any chassis shops around you? if so, have someone custom bend the front bars. make it 3 pcs one one on each side, one in the middle at the roofline by windshield to tie it in. cutting and welding so close to a rollover point, I wouldnt do it.

Yeah..you need to find a shop that will bend new bars to tie in to the main hoop. I wouldn't have cut them off because I weakens it too much. A small bend would have got them headed back to the hoop. Harbor Freight sells cheapie tubing benders FYI.

That would be the best option and that way you would
know it would pass

I am not a chassis expert, nor have I even tried installing a cage but you might want to get your local NHRA chassis tech to come by and explain to you what is acceptable and what is not. I would do this before ordering anything as you might have to chuck it too. Just my

2 pieces butt welded together like that without proper reinforcement will definitely not pass. Rule book is pretty clear about how and where that can be done.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

check chris alstons chassisworks for cage. they seem to have a nicer setup. just remember, car can be replaced, you cant. so build as safe as possible. my cage will cert to 8.50 or slower and i run 10.50's. but i am safe.
