The ground wire on the steering column of my GTX melted twice. The first time the horn circuit on the turn signal switch also melted and I thought
that was the cause of my problems. I replaced the turn signal switch and the ground wire and was able
to drive the car for a couple of days before the ground wire melted again, lucky for me no other damage. any ideas??

What year?

Most likely you have a bare wire somewhere in the column. I'd tear down and inspect it.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

69, all the wiring was replaced with the new turn signal switch.

Only 2 things I can think of that will melt a ground lead,
excessive current load or to small a lead to begin with

ck all the dash frame ground path connections +/or install a larger grade lead for the grnd

Is it the ground wire that goes from the steering column to the dash frame or the black wire in the turn signal harness?
