How to hook up this throttle cable to my 950HP carb....

Here is a pic of my carb and throttle linkage that I am trying to hook up. I can stick the throttle cable into the cable adjuster on the carb and tighten it but when I depress the gas pedal it will only open the throttle blades about 3/4 of the way open and not full throttle. I dont want to cut the cable too short and possibly mess it up which I hope that I havent already done. At the base of the carb are the other pieces that came with the throttle cable,but I am not sure if I need them with my setup as my car is a 4speed. Is anybody else running this same setup that can post a pic of theirs or give a tip on installing it?

Clamping it like you are doing is wrong. You need to go back and read the instructions because you need to use the parts that came with the cable kit. The small sleeve goes over the end of the shortened housing to be clamped down at the bracket. The barrel with the adjuster is replaced with the piece you have on the carb that you attached the cable to.

The barrel adjuster in the pic that is on the carb came with the throttle cable kit and so did those two other small parts in the pic that are on the piece of paper.
The small sleeve on the piece of paper in the pic is larger in diameter than the braided line so that braided line still slips through that sleeve no matter what.
But none of that matters if I am still not getting the throtte blades to open up fully when I step on the gas and there is still that 1/2 inch or so of slack left in cable travel.

You already have the answer you need, to open the throttle further you need to move the cable attach point lower on the carb throttle lever, the piece pictured will do that.

that looks better! looks much cleaner than mine (auto)
maybe put a washer underneath the hold-down? possibly get a piece of sleeving to thicken the cable just in that area...

That cable hold down on the bracket doesnt clamp down on the cable very tight at all.. but the cable doesnt move anywhere so I dont see the worry in that.
Looks like a good start there. But if ou want to put this issue to bed get the lokar cable mounting kit that bolts to the left rear carb stud that is listed on summit as a related part to the cable. And of course get a lokar cable for the trans kickdown (which bolts to the same bracket alongside it). Then you will have your clamping and geometry all done up right, and you will not have to worry about trying to jimmyrig it with the factory cable bracket.

Nope I dont think I want to start new with a whole different bracket kit. Besides my car is a 4 speed and it seems you are talking auto bracketry. Thanks anyway but I will keep this MagnumHP throttle cable bracket as it works just fine now.

It's your deal but it wouldn't take much to do it right and save that pretty motor and the car. A hung throttle can really do some serious damage. We are telling you this from our experience in trying do it on the cheap and easy. It doesn't work. Lokar doesn't supply those parts just to fill the box.
That braided sleeve cant move forward because it has a crimped end that is sandwich bolted at the firewall and it cant move backward because it bolts to and ends at the firewall. It cannot move in either direction.
