He's asking about a shared slip yoke. I'd say that if you are grabbing the transmission, flywheel and clutch parts (cores), go ahead and grab the driveshaft too. That way you KNOW the slip yoke fits. If you can, figure out the throw of the clutch before tearing it apart. If you are going with mechanical, it will be needed. If you are going hydraulic, you will know when it's right.

Dude, he said this " 727/4 speed or 904/3 speed slip yoke "
What he meant was there is one size that fits a 727 torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission AND a 4 speed manual transmission. There is another size that fits the 904 automatic 3 speed transmission and a 3 speed manual transmission. Get it?

yup, thats what i meant. i didn`t check to see if the driveshaft is useable yet. usually they are bent because the pick cars/truck with the forks on the bucket loader. maybe i`ll just get the slip yoke and get a new shaft made if i have to.

To reall mess things up there as a few A833's that use the small 904 style yoke.
In any case, I ran the Dak V6 flywheel on my LA engine when I converted to four speed. So it should work for you.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

im pretty sure the v6 and 318 magnums are internaly balanced like a LA 318/340 or a 361/383/440/413 the 360s of all vintages are balanced externally and all are balanced differently,,,the V6 and 318 dakota 5 speed fly wheel wil work on your LA 318..but dont do any speed shifting or ram rodding that tranny,,its not an 833...but will be fun in a normaly driven street rod and the O,D will be great,,
if you get the brake/clutch pedal assembly out of the dakota you will se how simple it is to use all the dakota hyd throw out bearing stuff,,the clutch master cylinder mounts to the pedal assembly,,run the line to the bearing and you are done,,,simplest mopar conversion,,ever,,

the slip yoke is a 904 style and the trans will hold up because is I had a 88 dakot with 4 cyl. 5speed thet I put a mild built 318 behind and beat the crap out of, race shifting 4 grand drops, etc, and you can usethe 833 style clutch parts i did.
So you are saying that the early 2.5 4cyl has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a small block?

Thanks Greg, that is exactly the link I was remembering.
Second Ron, I think it is the magnum bellhousing from the gen II dakota's is the one that connects to all the LA, magnum, and even the new hemi small block motors as well as the v-6 magnums.
Thanks, just my luck, I have the one no one needs Ron....

some where along the line they changed how the dakota tranny bolts to the bell,,,it use to be like a normal set up we all have seen before,,then they changed it to bolting in from inside the bell housing,,
and about the supra tranny,,a company that chrysler had ownership once upon a time called new process they make a ton of trannys for lots of companies,,so maybe the toyota/dakota bolt pattern was just because..

the "la" style 3.9 has the same bolt pattern.
somewhere ~96 or so the dakota switched from the Aisin sourced AX15 tranny (cousin to the supra's R154 tranny) to the NVG 1500's (4 banger) and 3500's (V6/V8). the 3500's have an integral bellhousing, like a 727/904.
